

JORDAN, Helen D., of Kettering passed away peacefully with family at her side at Lincoln Park Manor in Kettering, Ohio on June 27, 2016. She was born at her parent’s farm in Lee’s Creek, Ohio on January 30, 1930. Helen was married for 50 years to John E. Jordan Sr. “Jack”, the love of her life, and together they created a loving home raising three children, Janet Lee Jordan, John E. Jordan and James D. Jordan. Helen was preceded in death by her by her husband; parents, Harrison S. and D’Ella W. Duke; brother, Robert E. Duke; and son, James with whom she lived with after Jack’s death. She is survived by her daughter Janet, of Columbus, son John and daughter-in-law Dawne and two granddaughters, Nicole and Jacquelyn Jordan all of Houston, TX. Helen attended Bowling Green State University and later earned a History degree from Wright State University. Jack kept his promise to her to send her back to college to earn a degree after their youngest child was in school. A true historian, she explained to her family the importance of every historical marker and monument along the travel routes of many vacation camping trips across the country. A lifelong Methodist of strong faith, Helen was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church contributing to the annual Christmas Bazaar and as a member of the Lydia Circle. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and gardener. Her granddaughters received may dresses and Halloween costumes “Made by Grandma” over the years. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and son in David’s Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on July 5 at Christ United Methodist Church at 3440 Shroyer Road, Kettering, Ohio 45429.
