Howard Owen Tyson

Howard was born in Defiance, Ohio, on May 31, 1939 to Richard and June Tyson. In the mid-195os, his family moved to the Dayton area, where Howard attended West Carrollton High School, graduating with the class of 1957.

Following high school, Howard proudly joined the United States Air Force and became a member of the Wild Weasel Squadron, beginning a distinguished career of military service. During his Air Force career, he served during the Vietnam Air Offensive Campaign Phase II and the Korean Pueblo Crisis. He ultimately retired from the Air Force with the rank of Major.

Following his military career, Howard continued his service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he worked in civilian service until his retirement.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Ricard and June Tyson; his sister, Gretchen Cooper, and her husband, U.L.; and by his brother, Richard Tyson Jr.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Karen Tyson; numerous nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends.

Howard will be remembered for his service to his country, his connection to the Dayton community, and the many lives he touched throughout the years. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Howard’s name may be offered to the charity of the donor’s choice.
