
CAFFREY, James Charles “Jim,” passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Jim was born August 23, 1937, in Beatrice, Nebraska, to the late James William and Lillian (Pivonka) Caffrey. He joined the United States Air Force in 1955 and completed technical school at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado. He was employed as an electronics technician and computer systems administrator in the Avionics Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for over 20 years. He was an avid photographer and a member of the Tripod Camera Club in Dayton. He was also skilled in carpentry, gardening, landscaping and computers, and he enjoyed music, nature, and traveling. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Joanne (Taylor) Caffrey. Jim is survived by his wife Ann (Berbach Broerman) Caffrey, daughter Mary (Brian) Knapke, and Ann’s children, Beth (John) Ruf, Daniel (Kate) Broerman, and Meredith (Michael) Bolek; grandchildren Thomas and Alex Knapke; Alison, Adam, and Lauren Ruf; Meg Broerman; James, Eddie, Matt, and Ryan Bolek, as well as a brother Donald (Mary) Caffrey and sisters Patricia Krause and Linda Klucas. Family will receive friends Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Monday at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the Hospice of Dayton 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45420.
