James William Downing

DOWNING, James William, age 80, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014. He is preceded in death by his wife, Allison Downing and parents, James S. and Clara Downing. He is survived by his sons and daughters in-law, Stephen and Cynthia Downing, James E. and Tammy Dawning; grandchildren, Catriona Downing, Stephen Downing, Allison (Tom) Chandra, Christopher James Downing, Tyler (Christina) Downing; great-grandchildren, Bennett Chandra, Quiran Chandra, Gwenievere Downing, Caitlin Downing; sisters, Barbara Biathrow, Betty Graten, and brother, Shirley Downing. James was born in Meredith, NH and had lived in Beavercreek, OH since 1976. He served with distinction in the United States Air Force during the Korean War receiving the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Korean Service Medal. He went on to work for Phillips Industries for 26 years. A man of the highest honor and integrity, devoted beyond measure to his FAMILY and country! Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Bethany Church of Christ at 2755 E Stroop Rd, Kettering, OH 45440 In place of flowers, a donation to the woundedwarriorproject.org in his name.
