

James H. “Jim” Goecke, age 84, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of hard work, a deep devotion to family, and a love for sports, his pets and the outdoors.
Born on October 30, 1941, Jim was a proud Dayton native whose work ethic and integrity earned him the respect of customers, colleagues and friends throughout the area. For 64 years he dedicated his life to the family business as owner and operator at Ayeone Machine & Grinding Company.
Outside of work, Jim found his greatest happiness on his land in southern Ohio, where he made countless memories surrounded by his dogs, friends, and family.
He is preceded in death by his son James B Goecke, his grandson’s Luke and Jake Goecke, his brother Michael Goecke, and Sister Mary Lynn Kennedy. He is survived by his partner Karen Galusa, his children: Robert (Linda) Goecke, Amy Goecke, Jennifer Goecke-Boston, and Molly Goecke, His Grandchildren: Katie, Cory (Andrea), Hannah (Anthony), Emily (David), Tara (Marvin), Brittany, Zach (Mary), Alec, Sam, Waverly and Layla and 19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings: Karin (Hugh) Gilbert, Susie (Steve) Mueller, Kris Mays, Teresa (Jimmy) Scarborough, Jane Goecke and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held 4-6pm on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Tobias Funeral Home Belmont Chapel. Services to follow at 6pm. The burial will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Hayslip Cemetery in Lynx (Adams County), Ohio.
