Jim was born in Dayton on August 29, 1929 to Virgil E. and Ruth Clara (Appel) Newman, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, John S. "Jack" and Toni Newman. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Irmgard (Gawlik) Newman; two daughters, Barbara A. and husband, Michael Harmon and Susan L. Syx, all of Dayton; a niece, Jan and husband, Kurt Lepenski, of IL; four grandchildren, Kelly Wysong, Kim and husband, Rick Shirk, Kenny and Tyler Syx and three great grandchildren, Alexis, Gage and Keegan. He retired after 32 years of service from Bank One. Jim was a member of Millenium Lodge #779 F.& A.M. and was a 33rd Degree Mason with the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012.
