CRAIG, Janet M, nee Craycraft 1931 to 2018, passed away June 15, 2018. Janet attended Lemon-Monroe schools until her junior year and graduated from Kettering Fairmont HS. She attended Miami Jacobs Business College and later chose to devote her time as a wife, mom and homemaker. Janet was a founding member of the Dayton chapter of the Sigma Beta sorority, part of the national Sorority of Beta Lambda. She was also a member of Elks lodge 257, Middletown, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert G Craig; her parents, James (Ora) and Iva Craycraft; her brother Douglas Craycraft; sister-in-law Dorothy Craycraft; her sister Mary Craycraft Long; brother-in-law Ralph Long; her brother-in-law James D Craig; her sister-in-law Veda Craig; her sister-in-law Jeanne Craig Wenzel; and her brother-in-law Carl Wenzel. Janet is survived by her brother, Ray Craycraft, Monroe, OH; Daughter Toni G Craig, Dayton; Son Steven M Craig, Roswell, GA; granddaughter Tiffany Michael, Houston, TX; grandson Scott Michael and wife Melissa, Ft. Mill, SC; great-granddaughters Reagan, Emma, Delaney, Parker Michael, Ft. Mill, SC; many beloved nieces and nephews: Richard Craig Davis, Fl; Kim Craig, AZ, Kevin Craig, FL; David Craycraft, Deborah Craycraft Piedel, Donald Craycraft; Linda Craycraft Rudolph, CA; Phyllis Craycraft Ernst, AL; Cheryl Long, Robin Long White, Stephanie Long Greenham, Duane Long, Rhonda Long Flory, Rachel Long Craft, Amy Long Barnes. She was one of the founders and continued being a life-long supporter of her service sorority, Sigma Beta, which raised money and supported many worthy causes, including the National Kidney Foundation, and research and support for a cure for Alzheimers disease;,she helped found the ERA, Education
Recognition Association for West Carrollton Schools; she led, helped fund and organize the founding of Singing Springs swim club, the first member-supported community swimming pool in West Carrollton/Miami Twp. Janet was an avid bridge player, and played with several groups over most of the last fifty years. She and her husband Bob traveled extensively, both for business and for pleasure, from Hong Kong to Europe, and throughout the US. Since the late 70‘s Janet and Bob would spend winters at their condo in Vero Beach, FL. She and husband Bob were members of Wildwood Golf Club, Middletown, and while traveling were fortunate to be able to play some of the best courses in the Country.
They also followed various car races, including the Daytona 500, the Indianapolis 500, Sebring road race, just to name a few. For the last several years, Janet would actively switch TV channels between a golf tournament and a NASCAR race. One thing that certainly can be said about Janet and Bob: They lived life to the fullest! A Gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, July 1, 2018, from 2 to 4 pm, at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. Dayton, OH 45429. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Sigma Beta charity foundation, or to a charity of choice in her memory. No procession to a cemetery will be held since Janet has chosen to be cremated, as was her husband Robert.
