Jay Alan Oliver, age 69, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Jay Oliver was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 16, 1955. As a child, he loved sports, playing with army men and spending time with his brothers.
Jay spent many years as a purchasing agent at I Supply Company, but he found his passion as a volunteer for KABC (Kettering Amateur Baseball Commission) where he served many roles including President. He loved coaching, especially his son, Adam, in many sports throughout his younger years but his favorite was baseball. Jay was a proud and faithful Ohio sports fan including the Bengals, Reds and Buckeyes. He was also an avid history buff and loved learning about the Civil War and World War II.
Jay’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family. Many years of vacations to Garden City and Disney World were his favorites with his children, Katie and Adam. He spent countless hours playing creative and imaginative games with his grandchildren (Miguel, Mateo and Hazel) including made up games, joking about jelly donuts, and teaching them chess. He loved all three of his grandchildren and they learned valuable lessons about caring for your loved ones when they experience struggles.
Jay was an extraordinary person who will be remembered for his lessons of persistence and forgiveness. He is preceded in death by his father, Whitley Oliver, his mother, Gene Jennings and his brothers Paul Oliver and Chris Oliver. Jay is survived by his daughter Katie (Arturo) Acosta, son Adam (Tabitha) Oliver, friend Trish Oliver, three grandchildren Miguel, Mateo and Hazel, his brother Tom (Norma) Oliver and sister Sylvia (Dave) Capek. Jay was greatly loved and will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and countless other family members and friends.
The Acosta and Oliver families would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for all of the care and love Jay received from Fairmont Senior Living of Washington Township and Hospice of Dayton. Their unwavering dedication and genuine care left a lasting impact on Jay and our entire family in the final years of his life.
