Blackwell, Jeanetta “Sue” age 89 of Dayton, born March 10, 1935 and passed peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2024, surrounded by her three daughters. Sue lived a full life devoted to family and friends, finding joy and purpose in daily life. She was born and raised in Tennessee where she met and married Charles Blackwell Jr. She became a military wife and mother and traveled across the United States with her family for over 20 years. Settling in Dayton, Oh after Charles’ retirement, she worked in retail while continuing to raise and care for her family. Sue loved to cook, garden, travel, play cards and Bingo with family and friends. She was an auxiliary member of the VFW 2800 and American Legion where she made many friends. Sue was devoted, selfless and giving and was loved by everyone she met. She will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years Charles Blackwell, Jr. in 2014. She leaves behind three daughters - Nadine (Kurt) Glaub, Alicia (Kevin) Sommers and Donna Blackwell and sister Kay Nelson. Sue also leaves behind grandchildren who adored her - Charlie (Barbie) Brunello, Kyle Sommers, Katie (Ben) Knuckles, David Sommers, Taylor (Kyle) Jordan, Shawn (Micah) Brunello and family, Shane (Kim) Brunello and family, great grandchildren Gavin, Sadie Sue and Emmalyn Brunello, Kenadie Sommers, Islay Rose and McKenna Jordan and Henry Knuckles all of whom brought her much joy. Sue also leaves behind her devoted and loving companion, Harley Lawrence, life long friend Vivian Medlen and cat Missy. Private graveside services will be held for her family, with a celebration of life immediately following the services on Tuesday, April16, 2024 at her home in Beavercreek from 1-5pm.
