Jerome Bernard Reyer, also known as Jerry, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on July 23, 2023, at the age of 72. He was born on March 12, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio. Jerry was a loving and hardworking individual who brought joy to those around him. He had a great sense of humor and loved to engage in conversations with anyone willing to listen. It was a running joke with his daughter that Jerry seemed to know everyone, as they would often run into familiar faces wherever they went. Even during a family trip to Las Vegas, Jerry managed to run into an acquaintance he knew while simply strolling through a casino.
Jerry had a passion for sports and could often be found with ESPN playing on at least one television in his house. He enjoyed discussing sports statistics with his family and friends. However, his favorite moments were when the whole family gathered by the pool, with a Budweiser in hand, creating cherished memories together. He deeply loved his family and cherished spending time with them.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna, his daughters Brittany (Mike) and Heather (Brent), and his beloved grandchildren, Alexis and Bradley. He is also survived by his brother, Bill (Patsy), his older sister, Kathy, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Reyer (Schmitz), his father, Francis Casper Reyer, and his brother, Tom Reyer.
Jerry graduated from Archbishop Alter High School in 1969 and attended Ohio University for one year from 1969 to 1970. He began his career at City Box and Pallet, INC, a family-owned company, where he worked from the late 60s to the early 90s. Later, he became an entrepreneur and continued working until his retirement in the early 2000s.
In accordance with Jerry's wishes, there will be no services held. However, those who wish to honor his memory may consider donating to Hospice of Dayton in Jerry's name, in lieu of sending flowers. His family would like to share their appreciation to the staff at Hospice of Dayton for the amazing care he received
during his final days.
Jerry Reyer will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His warm-hearted nature, love for his family, and passion for sports left a lasting impact on those around him. May he rest in peace.
