

Jerry Dean McElfresh, age 87, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026. Born in a house in Springboro on July 13, 1939, Jerry was a steady presence and the deep heart of his family.
Jerry was a proud and active alumni of Wilbur Wright class of 1958. After high school, Jerry served his country in the United States Navy during the early 1960s. He was stationed in the Mediterranean aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of duty, discipline, and pride in service.
Following his military service, Jerry worked for 36 years in the factory at General Motors, dedicating himself to hard work to provide a wonderful life for those he loved. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage and a deep, enduring devotion.
Jerry brought light to every room he entered. His genuine warmth made everyone feel welcome, while his endless curiosity kept him engaged with the world around him. Coupled with a sense of humor and an ability to appreciate every moment, Jerry made friends everywhere he went. Above all, he lived a life defined by a heart of gold, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be held close by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Jerry is survived by his loving children, daughter Cristy Rittenhouse and her husband David of Bellbrook; his son, Scotty McElfresh of Cincinnati; his treasured grandchildren, Carly Taylor and her husband Zach of Cincinnati, Jenna Rittenhouse of Centerville, and Emily McElfresh of Cincinnati; and his precious great-grandson, Davis.
