Holten, Jo Anne, age 79 of Beavercreek, found rest from her long battle with cancer on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Heartland of Kettering with her husband of 59 years, Richard, by her side. She was born on August 11, 1935 in Lima, Ohio to Clifford and Violet (MacPherson) Burden, both of whom preceded her in death. In addition to her husband, Jo Anne is survived by four beloved children: Richard Holten II, David and wife Rev. Beth Holten, Steven and wife Sharon Holten and April Sue Holten. Her six favorite grandchildren also survive her: Brittney and husband Sam Samudio, and Kelsey, J.D., William, Ryan and Erin Holten, as does a sister, Carolyn, and her husband, John Corey. For ten years, Jo Anne was a fixture in the Wright State University Graduate Studies Program, where she was an administrative assistant and kept everything running smoothly. She loved to play Bingo and was a member of the same club for 55 years. She also participated in water aerobics with the “Aquababes” group for many years so her body could keep up with her mind. Her very favorite hobby was counted cross-stitch, a gentle and precise endeavor that yields a beautiful result if one has persistence. Jo Anne’s family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd., on Tuesday evening, September 9 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel, 1625 Calvary Ave., at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 with JoAnne’s daughter-in-law, Rev. Beth Holten, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Heartland Hospice in Jo Anne’s memory to help support their efforts. Condolences for the family can be made at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
