

Joan Darlene Lealos was born on April 16, 1937 to Gustaf Strand and Magdeline Genevieve Filbin (aka as Virginia or Maggie) in Seattle. She was lovingly raised by her mother, grandmother and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Joan, age 86, passed away on October 9, 2023 in Dayton, Ohio surrounded by her loved ones.
Joan attended Ballard High School and was later crowned Miss Ballard. She worked and retired from Ballard Blossom Shop. Joan made fast friends as she traveled all over the country and the world; lovingly known as “Joan from Seattle” wherever she went. She always had time for family and friends and loved to tell stories about her amazing life. She was adored and will be missed by all.
Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Joan leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years Michael Lealos, her children Michele (Gregg) Sisson, Kimberly May, Michael (Diane) Lealos. Her grandchildren Allen (Jenna) Sisson, Jennifer (Craig) Harmeling, Kaitlyn (Max) Green, Zane May, Jordan Lealos and Kristine Lealos, great-grandchildren, Harper and Annabelle Sisson, Samantha, Grant, and Mira Harmeling and Aven Cecilia Green. She also leaves behind many cousins whom she adored, and her dearest friend of 73 years, Carol Smith, who brought her immense joy and laughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH.
