Joan Alicia Speicher

Joan Speicher, 78, passed away on Wednesday, September 9 after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She is survived by her sons and their families, Jason and Carolyn Speicher, Brian and Cassie Speicher, her grandson Tyler Speicher, and her brother Michael Bishop.

Joan lived all over Europe and the US with her late husband, Air Force Senior Master Sargent Lawrence Speicher. During those deployments and after he retired, she worked as a Child Care Professional where she fostered a sense of caring, creativity, and confidence that spread to everyone she knew.

After she retired, Joan channeled those creative energies into her soap-making business, Brigid’s Bath. Brigid’s Bath became a fixture at the Ohio Renaissance Festival because of Joan’s passion and personality.

Joan also enjoyed working on her writing project, trying new recipes, and enjoying time with her pets. Joan loved being Mama Speicher to Jason and Brian’s friends and Grandma Speicher to their families. Joan taught everyone the true meaning of family: it is not only those related by blood, but also those we welcome into our hearts by choice.
