Born on July 2, 1947 in Dayton, OH to Walter and Lois Buedel, John was a loving and generous person who cared deeply for his family.
John graduated from Stebbins High School in 1966. In 1967, he was drafted by the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He spent 32 years working at General Motors before retiring in 1999.
A devout Christian, John was a member of Christ Church of Dayton for 19 years. He had a passion for music and was active in the Dayton Blues scene, most notably as a guitarist. He also loved dogs and spent some time as a breeder and handler of champion basset hounds.
He is survived by his children Kevin (Lori), Shawn, Valinda (Tony), and John, Jr; his wife of 10 years, Kathie, and her two sons, Walt and Stephen; brothers Charles and Jeffrey (Roberta); 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Ethen.
John is preceded in death by his parents and wife of nearly 30 years, Valerie (Pearce).
A memorial will be held on January 22, 2022 at University Baptist Church in Beavercreek. Family will begin receiving visitors at 10:30am with a service to follow at 11:30am.
