John Thomas Duffy

Duffy, John Thomas age 83 of Centerville passed away on December 23, 2015 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Alice Marie (Parr) Duffy on May 12, 2015. John never really recovered from the loss of his beloved wife and ultimately died of a broken heart. He also lost a son Timothy Patrick Duffy in addition to sisters, Patricia Rogge, Mary Helen McGuire and brothers , James F. Duffy and Michael J. Duffy. He was born on June 20, 1932 in Dayton to the late James and Cecilia (Eilerman) Duffy. A 1951 graduate of Chaminade High School and later from the University of Dayton in 1960 with an associate degree in Technology. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne. John and Alice were married for 60 yrs and owned and operated Duffy’s Refrigeration and Appliance while raising a large family. Survivors include daughters; Tresa Duffy, Bridget (Gary) Eldred, Megan (John) Tallieu, Erin Duffy; sons, Kevin (Cathy) Duffy, Matthew (Peggy) Duffy, Edward (Celeste) Duffy, Thomas (Julie) Duffy; sisters, Marilyn Y. Duffy, Sharon Krug; brothers, Ralph A. Duffy, William L. Duffy; 25 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Johns Great Love was his children and grandchildren but his greatest love was Alice. He is now exactly where he wants to be. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Wednesday December 30, 2015 at the Tobias Funeral Home-Far Hills Chapel 5471 Far Hills Ave at Rahn Rd. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 am Thursday December 31, 2015 at Emmanuel Catholic Church 149 Franklin St. Dayton, Ohio 45402. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
