John was the epitome of a professional police officer, for many years John was in charge of the property room and he ran a very strict operation in an important position. John will be remembered as a personable, helpful man and one that will be missed by many. Bill Howard (Dayton P.D. Ret.)

John was married to my first cousin, Anna McCallister, for many years, and, although I lived in West Virginia, I remember the many trips they made to Anna's home in West Virginia. I was a younger first cousin to Anna, but I remember her husband, John, as being a very nice individual, husband and father. I haven't been close to the family in years, but did go to Anna's funeral and also Barbara Ann's just recently. I feel very sad about John's death and send my sympathies and my mother's family (McCallister) in West Virginia's sympathies to the surviving wife and whole family.

What a super person he was. One of the kindest men I kenw. He and my Dad Sgt Stan Kavy, Dayton Police Dept, were best friends. When I was young I can remember Officer Dunlap stopping over to have coffee with my Dad. Boy did they had the stores to tell : ). My Dad would have been 100 years old July 25 and he has been gone for 15 years but I still miss him. My sympathy to the family - the longer you have your parents in life - the more you miss them. You are all in my prayers
