

KENNEL, John A., 70, died at home on Saturday, September 6, 2104. He was the rock of his family, a loyal friend, and a mentor to many. He will be missed by all who knew him. John was born in Waban, MA, on December 1, 1943. He was a life-long learner whose intellectual journey included Angiers Elementary, Shady Side Academy, Cornell University, the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA, and MIT Sloan School of Management. He was a wealth of knowledge to his friends and colleagues. Throughout his professional career, John worked at IBM, GE, Siemens, CSC, and NCR. He was also a founding member of the Project Management Institute, Paris/France chapter. John was able to travel all over the world and live in Germany, Switzerland, and England before moving to the Dayton area. His travels allowed him to become a citizen of the world, comfortable in small towns and big cities and with people of many different backgrounds. John held many interests. He was a life-long numismatist; an avid collector of and expert on the World’s Columbian Exposition (Chicago World’s Fair of 1893); a member of the Miami Valley Bridge Club; and a community volunteer. John is survived by his wife of 32 years, Heike; his son and daughter-in-law, John F. and Dianne; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles F. Kennel and Ellen Lehman; nieces and nephews.
