Born in Port Chester, New York to Waldo and Helen Ann Koztecki, he was little brother to Helen and later became big brother to Rosemary. John graduated from high school and sought higher education at Marietta College. After graduation, John commissioned in the Air Force and served multiple tours in Vietnam. He continued to proudly serve his country until retirement.
John leaves behind a legacy of “old man” economics, a love of Godzilla movies, an appreciation for a broad range of music-volume set to 11. His accordion skills and polka repertoire are legendary. His dance moves left spectators in awe, often clearing the dance floor.
John was married to the love of his life, Lien, for 56 years. He was the proud father of Joseph (Karmen), Lien Helen and Joyce (Jeff) Darden. He flourished in his role as “Grandpa” or “Ye Ye” to Olivia, Kat and Sam; leading frequent quality control checks at numerous ice cream shops.
We will miss his dry humor, ability to “repair” a 1974 Dodge Dart Swinger and his presence in our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in John’s honor to the Fisher House, Dayton Veterans Affairs (VA) via their website https://connect.fisherhouse.org to acknowledge the generous and compassionate support provided to the Koztecki family.
