JJoyce Anne Cameron, 81, born June 1, 1941 died December 15, 2022. Joyce was born to Dudley and Virginia Cameron in Berkley, California. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved sister, Jeanette Keil. She is survived by her brother-in-law Tenny Keil, Jr., her nieces Tanya Winter and Rebecca Spang, four great nieces and nephews, and dear friends Hillary and Rick Wagner, and Martha Herbert. Joyce spent her youth in Berkley, California where she attended Berkley HS. There she enjoyed hiking and camping at Mt. Shasta and Yosemite with her family. They were active members of the Sierra Club. Joyce loved music and was an accomplished pianist and teacher. Her nieces fondly recall singing Christmas carols around the piano all together. Joyce was dedicated to earning a very good education. She received her Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Pomona College 1963, Master of Music from Indiana University with distinction 1965, Doctor of Musical Arts University of Oregon 1985, Master of Arts University of Dayton 1997. Joyce was Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Kappa Lambda. She was a widely published contributor to music and to human factors/ergonomics publications. In the middle part of her career Joyce focused fully on her scientific endeavors working in human factors/ergonomics at Booz-Allen-Hamilton, UDRI, Lexis-Nexis, and others. One project in which she took particular pride was her collaboration with William F. Moroney on their book Questionnaire Design: How to ask the right questions of the right people at the right time to get the information you need. It was selected as one of the Ten Best New Ergonomics books to read in 2020. In the last of her career choices Joyce was so happy to find the project where all of her previous work melded together with her work with Dr. Martha Herbert and Anat Baniel on the Anat Baniel Method ® Neuro Movement ®. Joyce was passionate about the research she did with Martha Herbert and Martha will sorely miss her research partner. Their work with Anat on transformational movement lessons has the potential to improve the lives of countless people with issues ranging from severe brain injury to enhancing artistic or athletic prowess. Joyce was an active member of The Noble Circle Project, a community of women thriving beyond cancer. She valued her fellowship with her Noble Circle sisters dearly.
