Keith was born in Cleveland, OH to the late James L. and Rita J. Steeber, where he grew up a fan of all things Cleveland sports, including the Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, and, of course, his high school alma mater, St. Ignatius, where he was on the varsity bowling team. He instilled the love of these teams upon his children, which he told could choose to root for any team they wanted, but if it wasn’t Cleveland sports, they couldn’t live in the house.
He leaves behind more than a legacy of his fandom, though. What he leaves behind is a family that he showed unconditional love for at every interval of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheri; his three sons, Jason (and his girlfriend, Jen), Nathan (and his husband, Jonathan), and Adam (and his wife, Abbey); his three grandchildren, Connor, Noah, and Penelope; his sister, Kathy; his brother, Kris (and his wife, Kristin); and his sister-in-law, Sheli.
After having met and fallen in love while attending The University of Dayton, Keith and Sheri were married for 42 wonderful years in which they showed love, compassion, support and growth for each other that never waivered, unless they chose opposing contestants on Beat Bobby Flay. Throughout their years together, they also shared a passion for religion, tennis, oldies music, and making sure their kids always knew what love looked like.
Keith and his sons enjoyed spending time together playing board and card games, bowling, golfing, and going to sporting events. Through their time having fun together, he also showed them how to work hard, take care of a family, and be respectful of everyone you meet, which helped lead them to be the men they are today.
For over 35 years, Keith was a civil engineer for the City of Dayton where he oversaw and planned for construction and engineering projects to help develop the city and ensure its citizens experienced a great life to live. He retired in 2020 to be able to spend more time with his wife and family.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Keith’s warmth and humor will be missed by all who knew him.
