Lois grew up in Dayton, spending many weekends visiting her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in Adams County. She played baritone horn in the marching band and graduated from Fairview High School in 1959. She earned her RN degree at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati in 1962. She met her first husband through extended family, and they were married in 1962. They started their life together in Fort Hood, TX until he finished his service with the Army. They returned to Dayton at the end of 1963 to begin their life in the Dayton area.
Together with Joe, Lois raised their kids. As a family they water skied on weekends on the Ohio River and were members of Shiloh Church, where she played in the bell choir. She learned to play piano and played for her enjoyment at home for many years. They worked hard to provide college educations for all 3 kids, of which she was very proud.
General Motors provided not only a career in occupational health nursing, but a second husband. She met Frank through a mutual friend at Delphi Kettering. They shared almost 13 years of square dancing, gardening, watching horse pull competitions and traveling before he passed in 2009.
During her career, she went back to school to earn her BSN, served as president of the Occupational Health Nurses organization finally retired as medical supervisor in 2006.
After Frank’s passing, she joined David’s Church in Kettering where she joined the women’s quilting group and sang in the choir. She enjoyed making new friends and making lap quilts for VA hospital patients. Her new sewing interests carried over to also quilting gifts for family. She was especially proud of the Christmas Contata the choir performed each year. Her activities were especially fitting since she loved to sew, making clothes for herself and family for many years prior and she always loved music.
Lois moved to Milford, OH in 2021 to be closer to more of her family. She looked forward to Tuesday Pizza buffet night at Talon Tavern every week and was included in a lot of family get-togethers. Her little fluffy companion of 11 years, Layla, gave her a lot of joy and she loved how much her friends and neighbors liked her little Maltese-Pomeranian dog.
