Smith, Lonzey Elmo, age 87, of Beavercreek, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2013. Elmo was born on April 22, 1925 to the late Samuel and Martha (Terry) Smith in Armaithwaite, Tennessee. Also preceding him in death were his daughter, Sharon Jones, brother, L.A. Smith and great-granddaughter, Grace Magsaysay. Elmo is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Eula; daughters, Marsha (Fredrick) Kelley; Cynthia (Curtis) Reeves; son, Bruce (Debby) Smith; son-in-law, John Jones; grandsons, Kevin (Barb) Jones;Jason (Angie) Jones;Robert (Dawn) Kelley; Brian Kelley; Nathan (Monique) Reeves; Shane Smith; Wyatt Smith and fiance', Chelsea Owens and Jesse Smith; granddaughters, Jennifer (Ryan) Magsaysay; Ashley (Jon) Barchus and Emily (Johnny) King. Elmo is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Smith and Cortis (Janice) Smith; sisters, Gertrude Eversole, Joyce Robbins and Elsie (Clifton) Cooper as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors. In particular, the family would like to extend a special thank you to Billy Eldridge for his many years of caring and support. Elmo accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior as a young man. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, serving many years as a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon for 60 years. Elmo bravely and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II fighting during the Battle of the Bulge in Germany, receiving the Bronze Star for bravery. Elmo worked and retired after 35 years at Dayton Walther Corporation and had also worked at Eastway Corporation for four years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Pastor Troy Lowe will be officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013.
