Louis Kinney

Louis Dean Kinney died on July 20, 2026, after a long struggle with a variety of maladies. He had just turned 68. Lou will be remembered as a free spirit, a fun loving fellow who enjoyed a good laugh, a good meal, and time spent with others. His life was forever changed by two events: his conversion to Christianity as a teenager and a severe car accident he suffered in his early twenties. He would struggle with the effects of the latter for the rest of his life, which caused him to often lean on the former, quoting the Apostle Paul (from Philippians 1:21), “…to die is gain.” For Lou death represented relief from the struggles, pain, and limitations that were his constant companion, especially in recent years. He passed away buoyed by the hope of a resurrection of body and mind.

Lou was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Dean Kinney, and his mother, Ruth Ann (Rhodes) Kinney. He is survived by his daughter Victoria Kinney LeClear and grandchildren Valerie and David. He is also survived by his sister Gail (Duane) Willis, niece Kara (Aaron) Willis, and great-niece Emelyn. In addition, Lou is survived by his brother Jim (Linda) Kinney, and nephews Bryan Kinney and Allyn Kinney.

Lou will be cremated and his daughter will scatter his ashes at some of the places he loved. Lou would want us all to know that his favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, and his simple response to that verse was, “I believe.”
