Louis Norman Timm

April 30, 1928November 18, 2021

Louis Norman Timm, 93, recently of Otterbein Retirement Community, Lebanon, OH, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and longtime resident of Xenia, OH, left us on Thursday, November 18, 2021. His life is a testament of his devotion to God, his Country and his Family.

Known as “Norman” or “Louis” Timm and loving husband to his wife of 73 years, he passed away at Kettering Health, Middletown, OH.

Born in 1928 to John Henry and Elizabeth Catherine Timm of Essex, Maryland, Norman grew up there in the heart of the Great Depression with his parents and alongside two older brothers.

At the age of sixteen, much to his mother’s dismay, Norman enlisted in the Army. He then switched to the US Air Force when it originated in 1947. At the age of 20, Norman married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life (also of Essex, Maryland). They went on to raise a family of three daughters. He achieved the highest enlisted US Air Force rank of Chief Master Sergeant when that rank was initially created. His tours of duty included Good Fellow Field in Texas, Mountain Home in Idaho, Travis AFB in CA, Andrews AFB in Wash DC, Plattsburg AFB in New York, Strategic Air Command at Wright Patterson AFB in OH, Thule AFB in Greenland, the Azores, Hawaii, and England. After 22 years of distinguished service, he retired from the Air Force in 1967, then went on to work another 22 years for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier, primarily delivering mail in West Carrollton, OH until he retired.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a brother. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

His loved ones will always remember him for his appreciation of the simple pleasures of life… a good home cooked meal (followed by dessert of course), time spent with grandchildren, and afternoons in the sunroom with cherished pet, Jack. His precious family was the most important part of his life.

May he rest in peace. Family to receive friends 12:30pm to 1:30pm Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Beavercreek Chapel; where service will be held at 1:30pm. Burial to follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Timm family.
