Margaret Patricia "Peggy" Gannon, beloved Wife and Mother, passed on September 25th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Thomas M. Gannon, Sr., as well as her parents, Robert and Martha Bramble.
She is survived by six children, whom she loved unconditionally: Barbara (Gregg) Luttrull, Maureen (John) Brown, Angela (Ira) Browning, Thomas M (Ginny) Gannon II, Charles (Janell) Gannon and Andrea Gannon; twelve grandchildren: Emily (Kyle) Knepp, Mason (Elizabeth) Luttrull, Isaac and Daysun Brown, Ashley (Alex) Dezarn, Michael (Clarity) Shrout, Tiffany (Matthew) Magill, Rae Ann Gannon, Jacob, Gunnar Gannon, Deven Gannon and Jonah Coe; three great-grandchildren: Autumn, Levi and Lorelai: four siblings: Suzanne Crall, Robert (Sharon) Bramble, Christopher (Sandra) Bramble and Julie (Jeff) Vidricksen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peggy graduated from Catholic Central, then the Community Hospital Nursing program in Springfield, Ohio. She was a nurse for 53 years. Peggy was a nurse from the heart - she cared for her patients with love and compassion. She felt the challenge as an ER nurse early in her career, which molded her into the nurse she became. She held many different nursing positions in her career and all of them challenged her in different ways. She loved the home health care patient she tended to for over ten years as well as her final role as a nurse for the Sisters of the Precious Blood at Salem Heights.
While challenged with the early stages of Alzheimer's, her last years were spent with yarn and crochet hook in hand. She enjoyed spending time with her family and the love and laughter that those times generated. She was blessed with a sense of humor and a sharp wit even with her memory challenges and her battle with the COVID Delta variant.
We want to thank the nurses, respiratory therapists, and doctors at Fort Hamilton Hospital that cared for our mother. Our most heartfelt thanks to the nurses, patient care specialists, housekeeping, social workers, chaplain and the volunteers at Hospice of Dayton for their dedication, compassion and support to our mother and family. They made the last week of our mother's life joyful, peaceful and comfortable. Thank you.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 9-10:30am at Tobias Funeral Home - Belmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place following the visitation at 11am at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 830 Bowen Street, Dayton OH 45410.
In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Dayton in her memory.
