Marilyn was born to Bert and Elizabeth Culter in October of 1936, the youngest of four. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings as well as her beloved husband. She was raised with faith in Jesus Christ as her resurrected savior. She lived in West Carrollton where she attended 1st - 12th grade. She helped at her brothers’ bakery and at her aunt & uncles small restaurant on the corner of W. Central Ave. and Elm Street. Behind the "Knot Hole Restaurant" was a grocery store owned by Dominick Mauro. It was here the two met, dated, fell in love and wed in 1959. Dom and Marilyn had 3 children- Sherrie (John Carter), Tony (Lisa Clark) and Michael. She had 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren – Tanner Hoskins (Kyla- TJ & Oliver), Brent Mauro (Alex), Shelby Mauro (Wesley), Haley Mauro (Dan Johnson) & Nichole Gist (Braydn & Amiyah).
Marilyn worked for the prestigious architecture firm Lorenz and Williams taking dictation for the senior partners and doing secretarial work. She also was employed and retired from the Eastman Kodak Co. She belonged to a Card Club, loved to bake from "scratch" and took to cake decorating. She loved to golf and taught her grandson the game. There were yearly vacations with many beach destinations as Marilyn loved to walk the shoreline and collect sea shells.
After retirement she and Dom took many trips – Colorado, Florida & Hawaii were just a few. The kids were raised in Beavercreek, which remained their home city until the mid-80’s when they moved to Berrycreek Drive in Kettering. They resided there until retirement, moving to Carriage Trace Condos a mile down the road. In 2008 when Dominick took ill, he moved into Oak Creek Terrace Nursing Home where he resided in skilled nursing until his passing in 2012. When it came time to leave the condo & finding someplace like home, Marilyn decided on the assisted living apartments at Oak Creek Terrace. She was a resident for a short 5 months before her sudden & unexpected passing. She loved getting to play WII bowling, BINGO, continuing with her puzzle addiction and made many new friends. Marilyn will be truly missed by all who knew her.
