
HOFFMAN, Marion Carl, born July 8, 1922, the twelfth child of fourteen to John N. and Anna (Doersam)Hoffman, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 Centerville, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers, one of six sisters survive, Mildred (Hoffman)Kunz of Huntingburg, Indiana. Baptized, July 23, 1922 by Rev. Albert Lamprecht, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Otwell, Indiana, Baptismal verse, Isaiah 40, 11th verse. “He shall gather the lambs in His arms and carry them in His bosom”. Also, Luke 18, 16th verse, “Suffer the little children to come unto Me”, and I will give unto them eternal life, they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Marion served in WWII US Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, 91st Bomb Group, 323 Sqdn., he and his crew were shot down on their twenty-fifth mission and became Prisoners of War. On July 6, 1945, he was joined in wordly journey by marriage to his beloved wife, Bernita Lucille (Shelton)Hoffman who preceded him in death June 27, 2013. Their daughter Sheila Jacqueline(Hoffman)Graham and son-in-law Paul of Dayton, Ohio, two grandsons Russell Howard and Scott Shelton Whichard, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. In life I have been blessed by God for these 67 years of marriage. In our life together we’ve lived the best era of mankind our life has been the “American Dream”. Marion was employed by The Food Service Department of NCR Corporation for 38 years. He was president of Zion Lutheran Church for three years, church council, and on the Stewardship Committee in building a new Nave. Life on earth is a journey I have completed my earthly journey. Life is only a short time journey, then death. Death conquers life, death cannot vanquish love. Psalm 121. Family to receive friends Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel; where funeral service will be held 11:00AM Thursday. Burial will follow in the David’s Cemetery.
