BROWN, Mary, born Mary Margaret Weinel, passed away on December 24th. Mary was born October 29th 1927 in Alexandria, Kentucky. She was called Margaret by family and friends. While in high school Margaret met her soul mate James Louis Brown who at the time was attending another high school in the area. When Jim, known as Louis to his Kentucky family, joined the Coast Guard to serve after WW2, Margaret briefly attended nursing school until family called her home. After Jim left the service, they married and had 64 great years together. They relocated first to Dayton, then to Kettering, where they raised their children. While Jim worked at NCR, Margaret made sure the house was in order and took care of their two children, Mike and Jamie. Jim’s job had them move briefly a few times and as the dutiful wife she went with him to both Scotland and Canada. After Jim’s retirement they traveled both around the world and to see their grandchildren Kris and Kyle, who at the time lived in Florida. After Jim’s death in 2011, Margaret suffered several health setbacks that left her confined to a wheelchair, but that never stopped her from being active. She participated in the Women’s Circle and sewing circle at church and was an avid bridge player and golfer. She is survived by her two children, her son, Mike Brown (Lora) and grandchildren Matthew and Toni Marie and three great-grandchildren, and her daughter, Jamie Ashburn (Rev. Dr. Robert Ashburn) and grandchildren Kris and Kyle. The visitation will be at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd.
