Mary Bryant Derby
January 10, 1929 – July 4, 2018
Derby, Mary Kelly Bryant, age 89, of Beavercreek passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. She was born on January 10, 1929 in Carlton, GA, the daughter of Dr. George and Annie (Griffin) Kelly, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Clark Bryant, her second husband, Tom Derby, her brothers, Dr. George Kelly, Wade Kelly and William Kelly and two daughters-in-law, Jana Bryant and Angie Bryant. Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Kelly; three children, Clark Bryant, Sarah (Ali) Anousheh and Kelly Bryant; Tom’s children, Steven Derby, David (Lynn) Derby and Ann (Denny) Reich. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin and Katie Anousheh, Ellie Bryant, Ciara (John) Sowell and their three daughters, Brooklyn, Madisyn and Emma, Sarah and Abby Bryant, Josh (Teri) Derby and their three children, Joshua, Olivia and Cora, Jeff and Johnny Derby and Christopher Reich. Mary attended the University of Georgia and received a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Dayton. She taught third grade for many years at Valley Elementary School in Beavercreek. Mary was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing Southern meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. Mary was an avid reader and loved solving crossword puzzles. She loved playing golf and was a member of the Greene Country Club, where she met her second husband, Tom. Mary and Tom had the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world, including, Japan, Irelan, England, Egypt and Greece. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held for the family at a later date. Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at Traditions of Beavercreek and the staff of Compassus Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
