Hughes, Mary Elizabeth (Wittkugel), age 97 of Kettering, passed away on August 1, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Hughes; children Mary Hobbs, Robert Hughes, Sonja Kendrick; sons-in-law Bruce Hobbs, Ellis Kendrick, John Hill; and grandson Brett Hobbs. She is survived her children Chris (Debbie) Hughes, David Hughes, Mike (Debbie) Hughes, and Diann Hill; daughter-in-law Liddy Hughes; grandchildren Josh Hobbs, Kelly Long, John Hill, Charlie Hill, Mary Dunn, Justin Hughes, Cara Hughes, Amy James, Marissa Braceso, Jared Hughes, Chris Hughes, Jeremy Hughes, David Hughes, Brandon Hughes, and Bridget Hughes. Mary lived 70 years in the same home where many memories were made. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Throughout the years her family grew to 84 descendants. Many of her grandchildren were able to be by her side in her last days. Mary's legacy will live on though stories of playing cards and cooking which she loved. Though her earthly journey has ended we are comforted by the fact she is now in the arms of Jesus and at peace. We would like to express heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for, spent time with her and loved her throughout her life and especially in her final days. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
