

LONGO, Michael Joseph was born December 8, 1921 in Dayton, Ohio. He passed away peacefully at home on August 3rd, 2012. He was beloved and is survived by his wife, Nancy Malena, of 66 years, his daughters, Diane de Groot of North Carolina and Nancy Longo of Dayton and grandchildren, Amy Longo of Dayton, Danielle de Groot of Oregon, and Hendrik de Groot of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Longo, mother, Margaret Mantia Longo and sister Frances (Babe) Spagnola. Michael was a 1942 graduate of Chaminade H.S. He served 4 years in the Army Air Corp in India during WWII. He partnered with his father at Longo's Spaghetti House, introduced pizza to Dayton and owned Michael Longo's Italian American Cuisine. He owned and was administrator of Englewood Manor and Crestview Nursing Homes. Michael was an active, lifelong member of Sons of ItalyJohn Pirelli Lodge #1633 and was influential in beginning the Annual John Pirelli Lodge Bocci Classic. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd. Sunday, August 5, 2012, from 2 to 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, 9:30 am Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 411 East Second St. Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
