My deepest sympathies to Jake's family. I was a year younger than him at St. John's and ran cross country and track with him for 3 years. He was a good guy. I remember the brown Chevy pickup truck he drove during high school that he called "Demetrious". Rest in Peace Jake.

Tara, Cole and Jake's entire family - I am a retired Asst Treasurer
who worked with Jake when he was at the NOACSC in Lima.  Jake and Sharon Lawley were the glue to all Treasurer's Offices they assisted with in fiscal services.   I will never meet another man quite like Jake.  So kind, always helpful and darn right ornery.  Always playing a prank on us and getting away with it.   I have always stayed in contact with Jake over the years and he will be dearly missed.  He loved talking about his wonderful wife and the light of his life, his dear son Cole.  My heart goes out to your entire family.  Keeping all of you in my heart and prayers.  You have my deepest sympathy.

St. John's Church in Delphos had a faithful and excellent head server in Jake.   He lead so many processions and services with grace and efficiency.   We will always be grateful.

As a younger cousin I remember Jake teaching me the BlueJay fight song when I was a freshmen.  He was always good natured and helped me out often when we ran Cross Country together,  I always thought it was cool to know one of the seniors.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I worked with Jake at NOACSC.  He was always so cheerful, having fun, making people laugh.  Jake was one of the good guys and he will be missed!  Prayers for peace and comfort to the family.

So sorry to hear of Jake's passing. You'll be missed by many.  I remember seeing  you growing up and being along side of your dad and mom many times.  This Neumeier cousin will keep your family in my prayers. God has brought you home to your heavenly family. Keep watch over us and guide those who are close to you.

Jake was one of the truly most decent and kind people I have been lucky to work with.  Always the first to offer assistance to any coworker in need. Whether it be teaching software or carrying boxes of paper, he was the go to guy because he always participated with enthusiasm and a smile on his face.  Also, per Bob Hancock’s memory, he was a prankster from the start! I knew from that moment on the first day I met him that I would enjoy working with him.  Everyone did because he was open, friendly and just fun to be around.

His devotion to his family was always apparent and he obviously adored and was so proud of Cole! He loved sharing stories and updates about his son!

The world is a little less bright without Jake’s smile.

Deepest  sympathies.  I am a retired treasurer that worked with Jake while he was in the Lima area.  Jake was always the smiling face in the room. When you had a question regarding school software he was the one you wanted to be at the other end of the phone line when you needed assistance. He was our safety net. We were heartbroken to see him leave our ITC.   He brought kindness and laughter to our stressful world. 

The Delphos Neumeier's are heartbroken by your passing Mike "Jake"  Henry Schlereth. There are over 130 Delphos Neumeier's that you are a part of and will always be a part of. Jake is the oldest of our nephews . We watched Jake grow up, going to his sports events.and watching him become a fine young man. You are now in the arms of Jesus. You will be missed by your loving mom, Kay Ann Neumeier Schlereth and your adoring dad Roger Ralph Schlereth. Kay is the oldest of the 10 Neumeier children.You are with your Great grandparents,  one of whom you were named after, "Henry".  Your Grandparents  Floyd and Mildred Schlereth welcomed you with open arms. Your Grandparents John and Alice Neumeier giving you the biggest hugs possable.  John and Alice started the Neumeier 10 and all 130 + of your Neumeier family. Your only sister Paula Joan Schlereth Hellman is heartbroken at your passing. Your Brother-in-law Kevin Hellman will miss your talks about accounting .Your nephew Ryan Hellman and niece Rachel Hellman will treasure the times spent with you. The entire Neumeier Family send our Love and support to your only son Cole Michael Schlereth. 

A great son, husband, father, friend and co-worker was lost with Jake's passing.  

I have known Jake for almost 30 years and had the pleasure of working with him for 7 years.  

One of my favorite memories of Jake was his first day working in the treasurer's office at Hamilton City Schools.  As we worked through the morning hours he shared various facts about what experience he had in the work force.  He told us about being a part time fireman at one point in the morning.  His passion for helping people in this manner was evident.  

When lunch time arrived the payroll supervisor, Jake and I went to Skyline Chilli.  The payroll supervisor drove and she asked Jake if her smoking a cigarette as she drove would bother him.  Jake, in a completely dead pan serious voice said "I'd prefer that you not, I am allergic to smoke."  

She refrained from smoking and when we get out of the car he starts laughing.  She says, what's so funny, he says were you paying attention this morning?  Ever heard of a fireman that is allergic to smoke?  

And that's how the fight started...

Rest in Peace Jake

Jake, you will be missed by all.  We lost a good one today but your spirit will continue to live in us all.  Our hearts go out to all who loved you.

Greg Shumaker and Mark Shumaker  classmates, friend, and teammates of Jake in  Cross Country, Track and Basketball  at Delphos St.John's High School. Jake was captain of the 1986 state Cross Country team.  Rest in Peace Jake you will be missed.

So many memories the last 10 years of Jake and our whole gang getting together and just being silly & laughing.

Jake, you will be missed so much by our family. We loved getting to see you when you would visit in Florida and so sad your time came to an end after we relocated to Ohio. Thoughts and prayers go out to Cole and Heather, his parents, Roger and Kay as well as his sister Paula and brother in-law Kevin as well as niece Rachel and nephew Ryan and Tara.

My dear Jake will be so missed. I remember Tara telling me about going on their first date....it was a done deal after that....she was hooked! He was always funny, kind and loving. He was a good friend, father and husband. I loved him. I mostly loved him because he loved my dear friend Tara more than anything. My memories of him will never go away. Rest in heaven, my friend. I will always miss you ❤

So sorry to hear about the passing of Jake. I will always remember traveling to Gatlinburg for his wedding to my dear friend Tara. He was always smiling, always pleasant to be around, always friendly. RIP Jake, you will be missed.
