Miriam A. Schaffer, age 94 of Dayton, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at The Hospice of Dayton. She was born on December 8, 1917 in Miami County, OH, the daughter of the late Walter C. and Della (Hayworth) Hocker. Miriam married Marvin E. Schaffer in 1939, and he precedes her in death.
She is survived by her son, Richard and Virginia Schaffer; daughter, Judy and Paul Apple; six grandchildren, Chris, Lori, James, Chris, Cheryl, and Steve; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Laura Judd of Fl. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters.
Miriam was employed with Esther Price candy for 57 years. She enjoyed bowling and solving puzzle books.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- BELMONT CHAPEL, 648 Watervliet Ave. Dayton, 45420. Interment will follow the service at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends 10 AM until time of service. Contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton in Miriam’s memory.
