Nick where to start… words can’t express the sadness I feel losing you. For 20 years you were my friend and confidant. Through marriage, divorces, kids, moves, college etc and everything in between we always stayed there for each other. You got me through so many hard times. We laughed, we debated, we had so many heart to hearts in those 20 years and the world was just a better place with you in it. We’d talk fitness or science or just about nothing for hours, you were one of few safe places in my life. I’ll miss you forever, I will never forget meeting you after a football game in 2005 but that’s a story in itself my first glimpse into how goofy you were. I’ll miss hearing you play whether it was after school years ago or over the phone through the years you played better than anyone I know. Distance never mattered in our friendship. I find comfort in knowing the last years of your life were filled with happiness and love from Mary and the kids. You were an amazing dad. My heart hurts for them. I’m not sure what life looks like without you and I just want to call you. You won’t ever be forgotten you were truly one of a kind. Love you buddy 

P.s. my son saw this photo and thought it was him and I and it made me smile cause we always joked about how Bryson reminded me of you when we were kids. Long blond hair and goofy as could be with a giant brain. I wish you guys could have had those talks bout science we always planned to have. Youd be proud of his curiosity. I will always think of you when he asks me endless questions I don’t have the answer to knowing you would.

He was a great guy to have a conversation with because he was so inteligent and funny and yet open to new ideas and extremely thankful for any new perspectives and help he could get from his friends. With his kindness and curiosity giving him the gift for gab, he could get anyone to talk to him for at least a moment.  I will miss our long and silly conversations. And am sad that his son will not get to have them. Vaya con dios mi amigo! Te quiero pegar por las cosas estupidas que haces y un abraso al mismo tiempo. Con mucho amore quiero decirle gracias por el tiempo que tenias aquí.

Nick was one of my best friends in high school, and my first memory of him was being dressed in full suit and tie during middle school, holding the door open for everyone who arrived to the lunch room before the buses showed up. He was kind of a funny example; cringey and eager to please, yet iconoclastic and intellectual. High school is a weird time in everyone’s life, but Nick made for an easy friend. He was generous, curious, competitive, and very good at almost everything he cared about. We bonded over literature and journalism, debated and disagreed about what it was that made a good man, and spent a lot of time just kicking it. I went through a rough spell with my family after i graduated and he (and his parents, who were so gracious and welcoming) put me up in his house while i sorted through it. Nick moved to Montana shortly after, and while we didn’t see each other much afterwards he was always one to call you and yap your ear off for an hour or two. He drove me kind of crazy as a lot of smart people do, always arguing and being the devil’s advocate, never content with a simple explanation. He cared a lot about his family. He was a thrill seeker and a romantic. Mostly i remember him as the guy who would buy me McDonalds when i was young and poor and hungry. I love you Nick, i’m really sad you’re gone. -Liam

Steve and I lived next to Nick in NC for a time. He was always helpful and kind, and always had a smile on his face. We are so sorry to hear of his loss. Our hearts are with the family.

My cousin, Nick, was brilliant, charismatic, kind and loving. He was a father, son, brother and husband. I will hold onto our childhood memories dearly and remember you always.
