

Norma was born to parents Janie and Paul Monroe Jones on December 24, 1923 in Lum, Michigan. She grew up with sisters Reba, Lois, and Lucy during the Great Depression. During World War II, she worked in the military manufacturing effort in Detroit. She graduated from County Normal School for teacher education. She became a teacher in rural schools. After the war, she married Jack Sarver who preceeded her in death in 2004.
Norma was an avid reader and was fascinated by history. She believed that human relationships were more important than material wealth. One of her many favorite quotes was "Make new friends, but keep the old; one is silver, and the other is gold." She was active in 4-H and scouting throughout her life.
Norma is survived by her children Jacqueline Drew (Roy Drew), Paul Sarver (Susan Sarver), and Noralie Sarver, as well as grandsons Erik Vasu-Sarver and Ryan Vasu-Sarver.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Retirement Community of Beavercreek, 3218 Indian Ripple Rd., at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers.
