Olive Adams Blevins, of Beavercreek, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the age of 101. Born on July 10, 1925 in Hindman, Kentucky, Olive lived a long and beautiful life filled with faith, family, hard work, and countless treasured memories.
After moving to Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Olive married the love of her life, Marvin J Blevins, and together they shared 69 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2017. Their life together was built on love, partnership, and the simple joys of everyday life. One of their favorite routines was working on the newspaper puzzles together each morning, a small but meaningful tradition that reflected the companionship they shared.
Olive grew up in a family of 14 children, born to Silas and Elizabeth Adams. She was the last surviving child of her siblings. She sometimes reflected on growing up during the Great Depression. Although her family had little financially, they were fortunate to live on a farm, where they could grow and raise food to feed their family. Her early experiences shaped the hardworking, resourceful, and caring woman she became. Olive held a very special place in her heart for her old Kentucky home, a place that remained dear to her throughout her life. In a family full of stories and connections, Olive even had the distinction of being an aunt before she was born.
Throughout her working years, Olive worked in a glove factory and for the telephone company. She then raised their five children. Her faith was an important part of her life. She enjoyed fellowship with her church family and participated in the church bowling league. Her love of faith and music went hand in hand, and she especially enjoyed listening to Christmas songs and hymns.
Her greatest joy, however, was always her family. She is survived by her children, Daryl (Joyce) Blevins of Loudon, TN; Gayle Blevins of Iowa City, Iowa; Richie (Chris) Blevins of Montgomery, TX; Sharon (Dave) Strehle of Beavercreek; and Tracy Elliott of Fairborn; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
To her grandchildren, Olive was simply the best Grandma ever. Each one believed they were her favorite, and in their own special way, each one was! She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel loved, valued, and special. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards and working on puzzles with them, swinging on the back porch, creating memories they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
Olive found joy in the simple pleasures of life and the friendships she made along the way. Her neighbors were always important to her. Olive had a way of making ordinary moments meaningful.
Her family will forever remember the wonderful food that came from her kitchen. They will miss her biscuits and sausage gravy, pinto beans and cornbread, green beans, and her peanut butter fudge. The memories of gathering around her table will remain among the family's most treasured blessings.
While Olive will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus in Heaven. Her long and beautiful life was a blessing to so many. Her faith, her strength, her devotion to family, her Kentucky roots, and the everyday traditions that brought her joy will live on through the generations she leaves behind.
Olive's family will remember her not only for the 101 years she lived, but for the love she gave, the meals she prepared, the games she played, and the countless ways she made each person feel special. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
A memorial service will be held Thursday November 19 at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 with the service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Hospice of Dayton in memory of Olive.
