LAKE, Oliver Wyatt arrived to us, Joshua and Jennifer (Bagby) Lake on August 7, 2015 at 11:44am weighing 9lbs 1 oz and 22 inches long. Our big boy! We held him to our hearts and looked into his beautiful eyes. We patted his bottom and kissed his head. We were in love whole heartedly in an instant. We held him for hours, kissing his sweet cheeks, his soft lips and his full head of dark hair. He’s perfect with that dimple chin. It’s amazing how much he looks like his big brother Owen and of course his handsome daddy. We gave him a bath. We cleaned his 10 toes, his 10 fingers and kissed each one. We washed his hair, wrapped him up to dry his skin. We put his tiny diaper on and the outfit we bought for him. We took pictures with our baby boy. We cried. We laid in the tiny bed, all three of us. Mommy, Daddy and Oliver. Mom sang “Mommy’s Lullaby” and Daddy sang “Daddy’s Song”. We held him tight, kissed him one last time and said goodbye. We are the parents of three little owls. God has a plan for all of us and it is perfect. We don’t understand why he chose this for us and we cry. Oliver went to be with God August 7, 2015, just 35 minutes after his joyous birth. Oliver never took his first breath in this life, and after vigorous efforts by the doctors and medical staff in the room to help resuscitate him, Oliver passed away. We are devastated, but our God is sovereign. At this time we are finding it hard to breathe, but we choose to walk by faith. Through this tragedy, we already see the hand of God working, as we decided to donate vital organs from Oliver to help save the lives of other children. We have received confirmation that Oliver became an organ donor for another child. He became someone’s superhero! Oliver is a part of a greater plan. Our son saved a child. We are so proud of him. At this time, we can think of no better example of what Christ did for us, in bringing us life through death.
Oliver has two siblings, Owen William, age 4, and Olivia Willow, age 2. His loving grandparents are Terry and Sandra Smith of Chillicothe OH, and Bryan and Linda Lake, of Norwich, OH. He was greeted in heaven by his grandpa, William Abner Bagby, who preceded him in death in 2001. His aunts and uncles, Larry and Angela “GiGi” Nichols, Benjamin Bagby, Jessica (Lake) McCloud and Jacob Lake, will cherish his memory forever. We are grateful for the numerous cousins, extended family and friends, and others who have been a big part of our life, and on whom we will continue to rely in the days ahead. A Celebration of Oliver’s impact on our lives will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Family and Friends may visit at 10:00am, with a service beginning at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Kettering, 3939 Swigart Road, Dayton OH 45440. Dr. Chad Keck will officiate. In Lieu of flowers, Oliver Wyatt Lake has been added to the “Olivia’s Owls” team for the 2015 Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association’s Buddy Walk in honor of his big sister. Your donation in Oliver’s name through http://mvdsa.donorpages.com/buddywalk2015/OliviasOwls is greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
