Heil (Fischer), Patricia D., age 86, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, at the Laurels of West Carrollton. Pat was born on August 20th, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Edward and Marie Fischer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Heil (1980), her brother, Edward Fischer (Marilyn) (2018), and a great-grandchild, Savannah Grace Cooper (2010).
Pat is survived by her loving children: Jerry Heil (Marthann), Ken Heil (Cindy), Jeff Heil, and Lisa Heil. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Justin Heil (Kelly) Brittany Dahlinghaus (Chris), Haley Hall (Bryson) their mother, Donna Heil, Jeremy Heil, Alex Koch (Natalie), CJ Heil, Kristin Heil, Lindsay Meinders (Chris), Erin Lillard (Jason), Kyrin Massa, 18 great-grandchildren, a soon to be great-great granddaughter (March 2025) along with numerous friends and grand-dogs who brought her much joy.
Pat worked for many years in Dayton, with memorable jobs such as making cabbage rolls at Angie’s Restaurant. Some of her most treasured roles were working alongside her sons at Buckeye Lawn and Landscape/Oheil Irrigation in Centerville, as well as at Heil Brothers Lawn & Garden Equipment in Kettering.
Pat was a long-time resident of St. Leonard’s JBR & Assisted Living, where she made many lasting friendships over the years. In her final months, she spent time at the Laurels of West Carrollton in Memory Care. She was known for her love of family gatherings and cherished spending time with her son and friends at King’s Point Pub, where she kept score for Monday night darts. She also looked forward to Saturday dinners at Treasure Island Supper Club and Sunday breakfasts at Slim’s in Spring Valley with her family.
Pat loved many things in life, especially when they involved her family. She was always ready for an adventure, whether it was a Sunday drive in a convertible, a weekend getaway or a cross-country road trip, especially if her family was along for the ride. She had a talent for accessorizing—scarves, jewelry, you name it, she blinged it, shopping with coupons—and always found the best bargains while shopping because who doesn’t love a deal? She also had a playful love for the lotto, which provided endless entertainment, even if the winnings didn’t always appear. Pat had a love for elephants and Leo the Lion, likely because they were as strong-willed as she was, and a fondness for old cars, appreciating their classic charm and reminiscing about the days when driving actually felt like something. And let’s not forget her love for a nice cold beer—nothing beat kicking back with a cold one in hand, enjoying the company of those she loved.
Pat was never short on words, and she had a way of making everyone smile with her favorite sayings: “Silence is golden,” “Hells Bells,” “Damn Sam,” “For crying out loud,” “Oh, for Pete’s sake,” and “I’ve got the need for speed.” She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of kindness, reminding them often, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” However, as her memory faded, she lost her filters, and her unfiltered remarks—often peppered with four-letter words—creating many moments of laughter and fond memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15th at King’s Point Tavern, 4660 Wilmington Pike, Kettering, Ohio, from 4 PM until the cows come home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s name to the St. Leonard’s Activities Fund, ATTN: Finance, 8100 Clyo Rd, Dayton, OH 45458. Condolences may be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
