PATRICIA “PAT” LOU (FAHNESTOCK) RANKIN, age 75, peacefully passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 surrounded by her family and lots of love. Pat was born in Dayton on August 27,1946 to Lester and Helen (Scheuerman) Fahnestock. She graduated from Julienne High School and worked most recently as a bookkeeper and office manager for New Nu Investments until her retirement.
Pat’s hobbies included reading, jig saw puzzles, spirituality studies, collecting crystals, and listening to the Moody Blues. Pat was known for her inner strength, loving energy, and stubborn resilience, all of which allowed her as a single mother to raise four strong and independent daughters. She would often remind them: “We may not have much, but we have each other, and we have love.”
Pat enjoyed traveling the world to spiritual and mystic places with her beloved sister, Judy, and dear friend, Kathy Hart. She also enjoyed attending NASCAR events with her long-time companion and love, Tom Nugent. She never met a stranger and enriched the lives of all who met her. What she treasured most, though, was her family, including her four daughters, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Pat looked forward to family gatherings and cherished every moment, every smile, every milestone with intense pride. She leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and fulfillment.
Pat is survived by her four daughters: Lori Rankin; Gail Perkins and husband, Anthony; Connie Hart and husband, Jay; and Michelle Pentecost, and husband, Michael; Twelve grandchildren: Kate and Chloe Krueger; Nicholas Carusone; Taylor Couture and husband, Andy; Olivia, Emily and Anna Perkins; Kelle and Brett Hart; and Nathaniel, Benjamin, and Christopher Pentecost; as well as five great-grandchildren: Ella, Vincenzo, and Giovanni Carusone; and Ava and “The “Round One” Marcel Couture. Two brothers: Donald and wife, Lorraine Fahnestock, of South Carolina, and Thomas and wife, Cindy Fahnestock of Xenia. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, sister Judy Collins, brother Jack Fahnestock, and companion Tom Nugent.
A memorial and celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, OH 45429 on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m.
