He was preceded in death by his infant son, Patrick Joseph Sullivan, III. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen; and daughters, Kathleen Sullivan and Susan (Jeff) Sullivan Scott. Pat retired from NCR.
Pat was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. He was the eldest of five children; two sisters, Mary and Ann, and two brothers, Brendan and John.
Pat was a wonderful story teller and quick with a joke. He recalled stories of his life that were full of adventure and fun. He often talked of riding his bicycle to places quite far from home and of enjoying camping in the forest. He also had fond memories of annual summer trips to Belmar, New Jersey.
Pat and Ellen started dating when they were sixteen years old. They were married in 1961 and soon started a family. Stories of "The Egg Stealer and Ridemore Fatty" were standard Sunday morning fare when the children were young. When Pat retired he and Ellen ran tours to Ireland. He loved his ancestral home and enjoyed showing people the countryside.
Regardless of where he was or what he was doing Pat never met a stranger. His family takes solace knowing that he was met by many long lost family members and friends. Pat will be missed but not forgotten.
A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., October 2, 2021, at the American Legion Post #598, 5700 Kentshire Dr., Kettering, Ohio 45440. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420. Condolences may be made to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com
