Kelly, Phyllis J., age 89 of Kettering, died comfortably in her sleep in the early morning hours of August 8 at Hospice of Dayton, her eldest son and longtime caregiver Michael by her side. Preceded in death by her mother Vera and father Harry Rosenkranz, sister Shirley Rosenkranz (Datz) and husband John Kelly, all of Dayton.
She attended Corpus Christi Grade School and graduated from Julienne High School in 1949. Upon graduation she attended Miami Jacobs Business School. Shortly thereafter, she married John on May 2, 1953 and became a housewife and loving mother of 3 sons.
She became involved in various clubs and organizations at St. Albert the Great Parish while her sons attended school there. Later in life, she became a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Parish where she enjoyed being a Greeter before and after Masses.
During her professional career, she applied her secretarial skills in several types of office environments. This was prior to taking an Office Manager position for her son Patrick’s businesses, where she worked nearly 25 years. From there, she retired at the age of 73.
She was a talented artist, home decorator, had an eye for fashion, and enjoyed bridge club with some of her closest friends.
One of the things she learned from her wonderful parents, and often told her boys, “always be nice”; and that’s how she lived her life.
Survived by sons Michael of Kettering, Patrick (Joyce) of Springboro, and Timothy of Everett, WA, grandchildren Grant, Colson, Morgan and various nieces and nephews.
