

He was born June 28, 1947, to Clifford Merrill and Gladys Julia (Brown) Blowers in Dayton, Ohio.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Diana Brown Blowers, and his two sons, Ryan (April) Blowers of Beavercreek and Gary Blowers of Riverside. He also leaves behind his grandson, Rylie Blowers, and his granddaughter, Isabella Blowers, both of Beavercreek, as well as his sister, Rebecca (Mike) Chariton of Cortez, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carl Blowers; his wife's parents, Earl and Donna Brown, and a brother-in-law, Roger Brown.
Ray was a 1965 graduate of Meadowdale High school in Dayton, Ohio and a 1971 graduate of Ohio University with a degree in electrical engineering and mathematics.
He was civilian employee of the United States Air Force for from 1971 until his retirement from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 2008.
Ray was a member of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kettering and an avid attendee and supporter of the denomination's church camp, Camp Christian, near Delaware, Ohio. Beginning in junior high, he attended camps there every year until his death. He also served as a camp counselor. It was at Camp Christian that he met his wife, Diana, and they continued, as a family, to attend camp as a part of the Disciples Fellowship Retreat with their sons and then their grandchildren.
Ray was a dedicated member of Boy Scouts of America from the time he started as a young scout until his death. While supporting his sons and grandson, he held a variety of leadership positions and received a number of awards for his work with the Tecumseh Council and Camp Birch near Yellow Springs. Those included assistant scout master, a unit commissioner, merit badge counselor, shooting sports director at Camp Birch and participating in many summer camps, campouts and treks to the BSA's high adventure programs including at the Philmonth Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Northern Tier in Minnesota.
He enjoyed traveling and, with his wife, visited all 50 states including a six-week driving trip to Alaska. He also enjoyed several cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean.
Ray had been a member of the Beavercreek Police Department's Citizens on Preventive Patrol (COPP) since 2008. As a COPP member he helped direct traffic at accident scenes and other emergency situations as well as community events, such as the events such as Beavercreek Popcorn Festival and the Beavercreek July 4th events. A long-time gun enthusiast, Ray had served as a volunteer Hunter Education Instructor for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and he was a member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and the National Rifle Association of America. He had also served as the Shooting Sports director at Camp Birch.
He was also a member of the Dayton Amateur Radio Association and was a Master Scuba Diver.
Visitation will be held at Tobias Funeral Home; 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road Beavercreek, Ohio 45432 on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A service will follow at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Stephen Bentley officiating.
Interment will follow at Centerville Cemetery at 68 Maple Avenue, Centerville Ohio.
