
WOODY, Ray A., age 98, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012. He was born June 19, 1914 in Jenkins, Kentucky. He lived in Kentucky for 29 years before moving to Dayton in 1943. He retired to Port St. Lucie, Florida in the 1970’s and returned to Dayton in 2009. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Bellbrook Presbyterian Church and returned to Memorial Church for his final three years. He was a founding member of Calvary Chapel of New Life in Christ Church in Palm City, Florida. Survivors include daughter, Melanie Winter (with Johnny) of Huntsville, Ala.; sons, William R. Woody (with Fran) of Dayton, Ohio, and John Randolph Woody of Kettering, Ohio; brother, Richard Woody of Ypsilanti, MI.; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and longtime friend, Marvel Hayne of Coleville, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ellis Horne Woody; very special friend Jewell James; and eight brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1541 S. Smithville Rd., Dayton, OH.
