

Rick Carper was born November 19, 1943 and passed away May 30, 2026. He grew up in Urbana, Ohio the son of Kay and Ray Carper. After serving in the Army National Reserve he married Susan McLaughlin in 1967 and they moved to Centerville, Ohio in 1969. They had two children, R Scott and Mary Kathryn. He leaves them and their families; Scott, Allyson, Rylan and Lucy Carper and Katy and Shane Stierwalt, Gracie, Nick and Emersynn Turner and Alex Stierwalt. His wife also survives him. He was predeceased by his parents, aunts and uncles, cousins Jim Hall and Heidi O’Sullivan. Surviving are cousins Jane Hall, Michele Leatherbury, Becky Brooks and Debi Mullen.
Rick started a printing business specializing in the automotive aftermarket. Upon his retirement he spent the winter in Estero, Florida. He enjoyed playing golf and made many fantastic friends. When back in Ohio, Rick was always busy either with golf, hunting, exercising or socializing. Rick was always the life of the party, he loved to entertain and never missed the opportunity to ensure a good time was had by all. He leaves behind many very special Dayton friends.
Rick was a member of Sugar Valley Golf Club, Grandezza Golf and Country Club, Antioch Shrine and The Dayton Agonis Club. He served the Agonis Club as president in 1997 where he told a joke weekly and created some memorable skits. His favorite one was for Pete Rose.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45429, with a Celebration of Rick’s Life at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions in his name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association: Miami Valley, 6 Main St. Suite #130 Dayton, Ohio 45402 or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
