

Richard (Dick) Koerner, 74, of Dayton, Ohio passed away on May 18, 2026. Dick was born on August 5,1951 to Arlene and Donald Koerner. He was raised in Rochester, New York and later moved to Dayton to complete postgraduate work. He obtained a Masters degree in psychology from the University of Dayton with the class of ‘76 and his doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) from Wright State University School of Professional Psychology. Dick spent his over 30-year career teaching college students, training mental health professionals, and working as a clinical psychologist at Twin Valley Behavioral Health (Dayton Mental Health).
He was married to his wife Pam for over 40 years, and together they raised their two daughters, Sarah and Megan. Dick was delighted to spend time with his grandchildren, who all called him BopBop. Dick and Pam enjoyed the arts, especially the theater, traveling, and taking care of their dogs. Dick was also a lover of bad sci-fi, 60’s music, and computer games. Dick was a lifelong reader and loved fantasy, science fiction, and mystery novels. In his retired years, he continued his lifelong passion of helping those whom society often overlooks by volunteering with Westminster Presbyterian's ID Ministry. Dick's wit, sense of humor, excellent gift giving skills, and homemade pizza will be long remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Pam, and two daughters Sarah (Grant) Jordan and Megan (Matt) Nickles. Also by his three grandchildren Rylee, Addie, and Quinn, his siblings Jean and Jim (Pam), his nieces Alyson, Amy, and Kayla, his nephew Kyle, and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Arlene.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Dayton.
