

Richard was born on April 22, 1948, in Lima, Ohio, to Margaret and Morris Reese. He was the beloved husband of Susan Reese, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. They were united in marriage on December 19, 1970, in Dayton, Ohio, and together built a life centered on family, friendship, faithfulness, and community service.
Richard was a devoted father to Chad Reese, Heather Reese, and Melissa Reese Kemnitz. He was a proud grandfather to MacKenzie Wilhelm, Elizabeth Young Reese, Gavin Reese, and Reese Kemnitz, and a great-grandfather to Rayna Wilhelm.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Morris Reese; his sisters, Sally Bayles and Joanne Hubbard; his brothers, Wayne and Lewis Reese; and his sisters-in-law, Beverly and Betty Reese.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his three children; his four grandchildren; his great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service and sacrifice. Following his military service, he enjoyed a successful career in the automotive industry, including many years with American Honda as a Service Representative. He spent the final years of his career at White-Allen Chevrolet in Miamisburg, Ohio.
Richard was deeply committed to community service throughout his life. He was an active member of the Jaycees and a dedicated supporter and coach for Special Olympics, generously giving his time to help others.
Following retirement, Richard and Susan divided their time between Centerville, Ohio, and Naples, Florida, where they were blessed with many wonderful friends and neighbors. Richard enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, relaxing at the beach, taking cruises, and watching reruns of Ohio State football.
Richard will be remembered for his generosity, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Centerville, Ohio, on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service and reception.
