Richard Houser Ridgway
September 19, 1932 – March 8, 2018
Ridgway, Richard H. age 85, of Kettering Ohio, has passed. He departed his loved ones on Thursday, March 8th,2018. He was surrounded by his loving family and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wenona J Ridgway (nee: Montague), six children, Nancy, Beth (Jim), Lynne (John), Karen (Guy), Chip (Maria), Doug (Mary Ann) and 8 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Warner and Helen and older brother Jack (Sally). Richard was a Registered Pharmacist who practiced pharmacy for over 60 years. He was a second-generation owner/operator of Ridgway Prescriptions, a pharmacy located in East Dayton for almost 90 years and long known as “Dayton’s Oldest Pharmacy.” Donations or contributions to the American Heart Association can be made in honor of Richard if so desired. Richard was a graduate of Ohio Northern University and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He was an avid golfer and long-term member of Sycamore Creek Country Club, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors. In his younger years, Richard enjoyed taking his family on ski trips to Boyne Highlands, Michigan or Aspen/Vail, Colorado and in later years spent his winters at Barefoot Beach in Bonita Springs, Florida. Special family pets over the years included Chang, Samantha, Phoebe, Peanuts, Aspen, Simon, Sylvester, Misty, Rascal, Daisy, & Dodger. The family will receive friends at David’s United Church of Christ, 170 W. David Rd. Kettering, OH 45429, Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 10 am until time of service at 11 am.
