My brother and I are going to miss our favorite cousin so much.  “Bobby” was such a talented musician, such an  intelligent gentleman who was full of interesting ideas especially as a kid, and a friend who could make us laugh all day long.  We have such great memories of playing and growing up at our respective homes in North Carolina  and in Ohio.  I’ve thought and prayed about you all day and I’ll bet you know it.  I can see that famous smile right now.

I count myself lucky for having been associated with Bob for the many years he volunteered to produce and play on WYSO's Country Jamboree.  Never a mean word out of Bob's mouth -- always so kind and generous to up-and-coming musicians. And for any song, any type, any mood, Bob could come up with a banjo break that could either tear your socks off or bring a tear to your eye.  I mourn his passing.   I know Bob is in Gods arms and free from the mind and body that was living in the hell on earth that he was living in.  He has left behind his wife, children, and grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many family and friends that he loved dearly.   He will be missed by many who knew him.

My heart goes out to Bob's family, I'm sure he will be missed very much........he was a good kind man.
In the early 1970's he brought me into his Fresh Cut Grass band as their new bass player.....he was so patient and helpful in building my confidence I am forever in his debt........along with other band members Dan Spires and Fred Hoskins.  He taught me the bluegrass basics and his love for music was so contagious......I owe you Bob, may you rest in peace.

I am so very sorry to hear of Bob's passing.
Ever since I heard the news from Kim; his music and laugh have been in my head as I smile at the memories;  of going to "hang out" at he and Nita's cool home! Shag carpeting, fun little doggies, and music ! Bob was one of the  first parents I knew who were funny and... sarcastic to.... and... with... us teenagers! I vividly remember going to their house before Prom (yep Mike and I were both desperate without dates and we went together) Nita was busily taking a picture while Bob and I were bantering about Mike's choice of a blue crushed velvet tux. I remember thinking, "let's not go to prom and hang out here."  Then fast forward years later... to my wedding in Chicago and Bob  and Nita were there and once again there was Mike standing next to me in a tux (this time to give me away to  Bill) .... and Bob walked by and said well at least it's not crushed velvet this time... and on that day our videographer's camera malfunctioned and Bob stepped in with his own video camera and took footage of our wedding and reception, that we treasure to this day!  
When I saw him last a few years ago at Mark's, he stopped me in the driveway and said "you are such a pretty lady"... I hugged him and he giggled. He lived and loved well! Full of fun, laughter, music, music, and more music.... and the beat goes on dear Bob....through us that remain.  Love, Kendra and Bill


Dear Nita, Mike, Mark, and Terri Lynn,

I just don’t even know where to begin in expressing my sadness over losing Bob. I have the absolute best memories of being “adopted” into your family and consider it quite an honor to have been a part of your lives.  I understand what a great void this must be to your family and I hope you know that Gary and I will be keeping you all in our continued thoughts and prayers.  May all of the wonderful memories be a source of comfort to you all. We love you all so much. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.
