Ruth Hidagarde King

KING, Ruth Hildegard Finke passed away August 4, 2016. She was born in Dayton on August 11, 1924 to Harry Francis and Hildegard (Elsbernd) Finke. She was a graduate of Julienne High School and Mount Saint Joseph College in Cincinnati. She was married to Robert Fleming Raney in 1949 until his death in 1951. In 1958 she married Edward Peter King and they shared nearly 58 years together. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Robert J. and R. Peter Finke; her sisters Dorothy L.Westbrock and Janet I. Russell.

Ruth was an artist, a golfer and active in the two communities in which she lived, Dayton and Beaufort, South Carolina. She was a docent at the Dayton Art Institute, a member of the Christ Child Society and joined numerous garden clubs and charitable organizations. She was a member of Holy Angels Church.

Ruth is survived by her loving family: husband Peter, children Carol R. (William) Schoen of Sylvania, Ohio, Robert F. (Nicolette) Raney of Centerville, and Peter M. (Lynn) King of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren Nathaniel (Sarah), Ian (Barbara), Benjamin, Emily (Anthony) D’Agostino, Joseph (Kristen), Erich, and Mary Elaine Schoen; Robert (Sarah) and Lisa Raney, Nathan (Rachel) Henderson; Victoria and Collin King; and 17 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are brothers Harry F. (Carol) and John E. (Sue) Finke of Cincinnati; sisters Mary Ann Henz, Martha L. Faulhaber of Chicago, and Suzanne M. (Robert) Schiller; in-laws Judy Finke, Dottie Raney Bachus, Robert E. and Susan King of Bradenton, Florida; many kind nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 27 at 10:00 at Holy Angels Church, 1132 Brown Street. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
